All
Saints Parish

My Dear Parishioners,
Happy Easter! Last weekend I shared with you some very sad
news. Here is the statement that I read:
“Friends, it is with a very heavy heart
that I need to inform you that my last day in All Saints Parish will be July1,
2007. On Tuesday afternoon, Bishop
Leonard Blair called me to his office and asked me to become the new Vocations
Director for the Diocese of
Sharing
this was one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do as a priest. Each and every one of you has become an
important part of my family. I can understand the feelings that you may be
experiencing on hearing the news, but please know that I accept God’s will for me.
Somehow,
the Lord led Bishop Blair to ask me to be the Vocations Director. In his appointment letter to me, the Bishop
states my duties as: “nurturing and
recruiting vocations to the priesthood, caring for our seminarians, monitoring
their progress, and directing the Diocesan Office of Vocations: Priesthood and
Consecrated Life.”
Praying
about these responsibilities I reflect on what we as a parish have been doing
to promote vocations. We have cared for
five seminarians over the past four years.
Shawn Wilkins, Aaron Yohe and Mike Roemmele as summer seminarians and
then Jacob Gordon and Chris Bohnsack as Interns. Our K of C’s and CK of O councils have been
giving outstanding support to our seminarians as well as the Rosary-Altar
Society. Our Chalice for Vocations which
travels to a different home each week increases our awareness to pray for
vocations. In addition, I have served on
the Admission-Formation Board for the Diocese which serves as an advisory board
to the Vocation Director in assisting with the screening of potential seminarians
as well as monitoring the progress of the current seminarians.
So
if this is where God has led the Bishop, I believe that God will also lead the
Bishop to assign a priest here to All Saints that will be a good shepherd. It is very possible that by the weekend of
April 24-25 we should know who the next priest should be here at All
Saints. Between now and then priests
will have the opportunity to review a parish profile, as well as come and
visit. So if you see any strange priests
in town, be really nice, he could be your next pastor. In the meantime, let us pray that the Lord,
will send a holy, faith-filled and energetic priest to All Saints.
Sincerely yours in the name
of the Risen Christ,
Fr. Ron Schock, Pastor
Father
Randy Giesige
